I grew up in Southern California, where I spent my time riding horses, playing softball, body surfing, and working at a Vet Clinic starting at age sixteen. I discovered peanut butter and honey sandwiches when I was nineteen, which caused me to gain fifteen pounds and inspired me to write my first fantasy/adventure novel for kids in the six-book series, Peridot the Secret Portal, featuring the salty, savory food. Initially, I was accepted into the Zoology program at UC Davis as a pre-vet student, where allergies to the lab chemicals forced me to change my major to English—boy am I glad I did! My award-winning novel for kids, Monet’s Fun Camp, resulted from this change, as did my upcoming Young Adult/Adult Speculative Novel The Beauties and The Uglies and second edition modernized Peridot the Secret Portal. My most precious achievements, though, are my roles as wife, mom, and nana. I also enjoy acting and commercial modeling, nature walks, fiber art, listening to audiobooks, and working as the Product Developer in our family Blushwood Berry Business.
I write about real people who solve problems with their wits, integrity, and talents. Strong character, creativity, wisdom, purpose, and a healthy respect for others mingle with fiction, fantasy, adventure, and unpredictable twists and turns. Kids are our future. Adults are the role models and decision makers. We are what we eat, read, and do. I serve up a healthy diet of intriguing, suspenseful entertainment!
My six sheltie boys and grand St. Bernard past and present. The collie we were fortunate to nurture and enjoy for eight months, our sweet grand-kitty with Peridot eyes and grand-doggies: a Shepard-Chow-Husky mix who smiles at us and two lovable Golden Retrievers. Horses, elephants, and just about every animal out there.
