This illustrated adventure/rescue story for kids 8-12 shows how when given the chance to get to know each other even the most mismatched kids can become friends by accepting and appreciating each other’s strengths and differences. 

When middle school classmates super jock Dirk Bailey and brainy nerd Alejandra Ballesteros get lost overnight in the Santa Fe Mountains while collecting nature specimens for a science project, they decide to seek refuge in an old barn. The only problem is that the barn is home to chop shop criminals disassembling stolen car parts to sell on the black market. Dirk is discovered by the thugs and held captive in the barn while Alejandra must find a way to free him.
